You need to be either very determined or very ignorant to attempt reaching the Bungle Bungles or Purnululu in Aboriginal language. There are only 60 kms between this World Heritage and Australia's main highway number 1, but these 60 kms are on a tough Australian back road, only accessible by 4WD. It took us almost 3 hours one way and sore, stressed shoulders. My newly found 4WD affinity reached an absolute low. We slept under the stars, heard the dingos howl at the moon and got bitten by tiny insects that mock mosquito nets.
